The Safe Roof Systems design process

Site identification and qualification

The DMD-1000 Infrared monitoring system is designed to measure roof deflection over large spans.  A  typical application is monitoring the roof of a flat or low pitch roof with an area of 20,000+ sqft.

Recent projects include school auditoriums, product distribution centers, and enclosed public arenas.  Facility managers responsible for multiple building sites rely on the DMD-1000 to help prioritize roof clearing and inspections.  The DMD-1000 has also been used in aging buildings to retain occupancy certification as a code alternative solution.

Whether you are planning an installation for a Zero Risk environment like an auditorium, or are providing a roof alarm to safe guard employees and goods in an older structure - Safe Roof Systems can provide you with the expertise and experience you need.

Design process

The initial design process begins with your "as built" drawings of the roof structure. Safe Roof Systems works with you to determine the number and location of the Infrared sensors.  Input from on-site facilities professionals is critical to quickly identify high risk areas.  Depending on the site requirements, follow up interviews or site inspections may be required before plans are drawn up.

The next phase of engineering takes place after the project has been contracted and includes determining the maximum acceptable deflection for each monitored zone based on your building plans and current building code requirements, and identifying the location and number of calibrated target cards.

Equipment specification and system layout

With the initial design process finalized, the system architecture can be planned and laid-out.   The DMD-1000 system includes the specially designed central alarm panel, perimeter signal circuit, Infra red sensor/sender pairs with proprietary indexing technology, and calibrated target cards.  Every roof installation is uniquely different from the next and each installation includes customized mounting brackets for the sensors and target cards.  SRS fabricators produce all the needed mounting brackets specifically for each project and fully test the entire system prior to shipping the components to the work site.

Tailorable administration means the control system can be expanded to include more monitoring zones or additional gauges and monitoring devices. To take best advantage of this unique feature, the perimeter signal loop needs to be planned out in advance of equipment installation to surround the monitoring area and allow for future expansion as required.  Our alarm panel can interface with on-site IT systems, these details and features need to included when planning the system architecture.

DMD-1000 system proposal and project realization

Safe Roof Systems will supply you with a comprehensive proposal including scalable installation alternatives.   In most cases we provide a turn key service including the system, installation, and on-site equipment training.    In some cases building access is limited (to lessen on-site business interruption) and we can work with your team to determine the best and most efficient installation solutions. In these cases SRS can provide installation training to qualified on-site service technicians and  system qualification inspection services when the work is completed.

Project realization in real time.  Our team is ready help you move your project forward as quickly as possible.  System fabrication can be completed in 16 - 20 factory days and installation of a system can be completed in as few as 6 days (in cases of unlimited or unrestricted overhead access).
